What is Play Therapy?
Play Therapy is a gentle, evidence-based therapeutic form of counselling that uses play to help children express emotions, process experiences, and develop healthy coping strategies.
'Toys are children's words and Play is their language' (Garry Landreth).
Play Therapists use specialised skills to support the child to make sense of their everyday experiences.
Play Therapy fosters self-awareness, emotional resilience, social skills, and confidence. In the Playroom, children are accepted exactly as they are and progress at their pace.
Play Therapy can be highly effective for children dealing with trauma, family changes, Autism, neurodiversity or difficulties with peers, offering a healing space where they feel truly heard and understood.

Meet Amy-Owner/ Play Therapist - Autism Support Practitioner - Parent Support & Key Worker
Background:
Amy brings over 20 years of lived and professional experience supporting children with neurodiversity and their families, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Developmental Delays, Anxiety, ADHD, Trauma and early years support.
Amy is a qualified child centred Play Therapist, Autism Support Practitioner and Primary School Teacher. Amy combines evidence-based strategies with each child's unique strengths to help them feel supported, understood and supports them to reach their full potential. Amy is an avid advocator to support children across all settings to be understood and supported. 'For every behaviour there is a reason' and she is a strong believer in helping children be understood and Play Therapy is an amazing tool where this to happen. Amy has experience with early intervention, disability, childhood trauma supports and neurodiversity.
As both a therapist and a mum, Amy understands families needs and has first hand experience raising a family with neurospiciness. Amy has a passion for supporting children who have experienced trauma and children in care.
Amy also works as a Key Worker with families/children under 9 with Early Childhood Intervention NDIS plans and assists in navigating and connecting therapies for families. NDIS plans and connecting with therapies can be very overwhelming, and having experienced this herself, Amy can relate and strives to be supportive and helpful through this space.

Meet Emily - Play Therapist
Emily has been working with children and families for the last 10 years. Her play therapy journey began when she decided to retrain after years of working in the wellbeing space as a primary school teacher. She noticed what was missing for children who had experienced trauma and or were neurodivergent. They needed a place to be seen, heard and understood.
Emily became certified as a Humanistic play therapist and Interplay family therapy practitioner and has been supporting children and their family systems in these roles.
Families working with Emily can expect a warm, welcoming space to share what is true for them and experience a safe, healing relationship with someone passionate about authenticity, connection and wellbeing.
